VINTAGE VERY RARE ARGENTINA SNOOPY & AIRPLANE SQUEEZE RUBBER FIGURE TOY VARIANT – $179.99. Find it on eBay (affiliate link).
When determining value, there are three main factors to consider: rarity, condition, and desirability. This has the rarity, since it is a non-American market, made in Argentina squeaky toy. The American market version was produced by Danara in the late 1970’s, early 1980’s. The Snoopy Flying Ace Squeaky Toy is in decent condition, maybe needs a little cleaning. The final factor, desirability, just isn’t there for me. I don’t know too many collectors that seek out the rarest of the rare squeaky toys. These were throw away, cheap toys for dogs or babies, not a centerpiece for a collection.
The Snoopy Flying Ace Squeaky Toy is a wonderful example, a great subject, and a fun piece. However, that rarity that this particular piece brings to the table isn’t a reason to pay $180. Rarity and desirability go hand-in-hand. One part of desirability is having something that other collectors would covet. This is an interesting find, certainly, and adds to the tale of this squeaky toy production story. In my collection, I have two of this same design, but they’re different sizes. I kept them both, but I doubt I’d sell the oddity one out for much more than the common one. Unless you have both of them in your hand, you may not even recognize the difference. A lot of subtle variations are only apparent when you have multiples. Even then, I doubt whether most collectors would care about slight differences.
How much is a Snoopy Flying Ace Squeaky Toy worth?
Squeaky Toys of this vintage usually sell for around $5-15, depending on condition. If there are any squeaky toy specialist collectors, perhaps they’d pay more. If you are one such collector, let me know!
