Vintage Rare Snoopy 1958, 1966 United Features Syndicate, Inc. PENCIL TOP ????? – $40. Find it on eBay (affiliate link).
Finding just one piece of a puzzle can often leave someone baffled. This seller jumped to the conclusion that this Snoopy Figure is a pencil topper. It’s a tricky item to pinpoint, especially if you’re not familiar with Peanuts memorabilia. As a Peanuts collector, I knew instantly that this item was a Snoopy toy figure, missing his vehicle. He’s the Snoopy Scooter Shooter figure, who sits atop a three-wheeled motorbike that is shot off a stunt ramp. This 1970’s toy was a response to the popularity of Evel Knievel. Snoopy’s Stunt Spectacular has a very similar appearance to Evel’s signature outfit.
While I can forgive the seller not knowing what this item is, I can’t forgive it’s appearance. Sure, Snoopy is old and seen better days, but could he at least be given a light cleaning? I understand not over-doing the cleaning, because old things can loose paint or patina. However, this figure just looks really icky. For a $40 asking price, I think he could use a 30-second wipe down with a paper towel.
How much is a Snoopy Scooter Shooter Figure worth?
Is this Snoopy Scooter Shooter Figure worth $40? Yes! If he was in better condition and included all his parts and the original box. I would expect to pay around $25-45 for one that is complete and in very good to mint condition. Even if you have the entire set without Snoopy, I probably wouldn’t pay more than a buck or two for this to complete that set. He’d really just be a stand-in until you find a cheap, incomplete set to use for parts. Also, who pays $40 for a pencil topper?
