SNOOPY vintage paper mache RAINBOW bank Peanuts Gang – $160. Find it on eBay (affiliate links).
The Snoopy rainbow bank is a wonderful concept, but poorly executed. Finding these banks are easy enough. Finding one in mint condition is HARD. As Snoopy rainbow banks go, this one is not too bad but will get worse over time. Pealing paint is a notorious condition issue for this bank design. The layers of paint built up on the rainbow eventually crack and fall off. This one shows the red and green starting to flake off on the rainbow. The bank also has some missing paint on Snoopy’s nose and around the coin slot. Papier-mache banks are prone to dents, which this bank seems to have avoided. The stopper has deteriorated, but it’s easy to purchase a new one online.
How much is a Snoopy Rainbow Bank worth?
Determined Productions created lots of papier-mache banks. The 1976 Snoopy Rainbow Bank is probably one of the easiest to find. Condition issues makes buying them tricky, since they may start developing condition issues even when not in use. In mint condition, I’d be willing to pay $20-30. If the deterioration is setting in, I wouldn’t pay much more than $10. Buy one super cheap and restore it. All it needs is a little love!
