The thing with bookends is they always come in pairs. When there is only one, is it still a bookend? This Snoopy on Books Bookend is very obviously a bookend. While some Peanuts bookends of this period were also marketed as paperweights, this wasn’t one of them. Snoopy was made by Butterfly Originals sometime in the late 1970’s or early 1980’s. The books came in either brown or yellow.
Should you pass on a single bookend? For the right price and right condition, I say go for it if you like it. There’s nothing stopping you from someday finding another mate for your Snoopy bookend. Plus, it can still be useful on its own. Just remember, finding mates that match just right might be down to luck. Colors fade. Whites yellow. An artists’ hand-paint differs from another. Just put enough books between the two and no one will notice, right?
How much is a Snoopy on Books Bookend worth?
I might find it difficult to part with $70 for the pair, let alone just one. These were harder to find, but the internet has churned them up for the marketplace. I would prefer to be at around $25-40 for a solitary bookend of this type. That leaves plenty in the budget to find him a mirror image.
