Oversized Peanuts advertising displays are some of my favorite collectibles, and this giant A&W Cream Soda inflatable is certainly one of the biggest. Standing about 4 feet tall, this 1991 store display was designed to look like an oversized A&W Cream Soda can and would have originally hung from the ceiling using the built-in grommets. It pairs nicely with the Snoopy A&W grill display I shared earlier, although this cream soda version is one I had never come across before.

After more than 30 years, this inflatable needed a little attention before it was ready for display. Cleaning it took about an hour and a half, with most of the work done using a Magic Eraser after first testing a small area to make sure the finish would not be damaged. A few stubborn reddish marks came off with Formula 409, leaving the inflatable looking much better while preserving the original graphics. Restoring vintage advertising displays always requires a careful approach, especially with large plastic inflatables that have survived for decades.

This Snoopy A&W Cream Soda inflatable also raises some interesting questions about the complete series. In addition to the regular Root Beer and Cream Soda promotions, A&W also sold Diet Root Beer and Diet Cream Soda, making me wonder if matching inflatables were produced for those as well. If they exist, they would make an impressive display alongside this one. Vintage Peanuts store displays like these are much harder to find than standard collectibles, making each new discovery an exciting addition to the collection.
