Lunch at the ballpark? Charlie Brown and the gang team up for baseball, kite flying and more on this vintage Peanuts Vinyl Lunch Box. Join the picnic and find out where I found this Peanuts Vinyl Lunch Box on the full Patreon article.
What I Love – Maybe I’m weird, but I love how this reminds me of Colorforms. Or do Colorforms remind me of this? Either way, these limited palette scenes are a favorite aesthetic of mine. Peanuts embodies simplicity and what’s simpler than a basic four-color print job? Plenty of color for interest, without being bland or too overwhelming. Plus, Linus is patting birds on the one side. How adorable!
King Seeley Thermos produced two color-ways of this Peanuts Vinyl Lunch Box design in the mid-1960s. A light green version was also available, as well as this red color. It would have included a plastic thermos when new. As usual, that’s missing but easily replaced. Vinyl lunch boxes are difficult to find in decent condition. They’re basically stiff pieces of cardboard enclosed in easy-to-tear vinyl. How any vinyl lunch box would survive a full school year, I’ll never know. My Peanuts lunch box still survives.
