Peanuts Sunday Comic Strip Newspaper Clippings

Sometimes, you just have to take a chance on the unknown! I found these vintage Peanuts Sunday comic strip newspaper clippings at a local auction and had to get them. Was it fate that they were just 10 miles away from my house? I’d like to think so. I wasn’t sure exactly what I was buying, but that’s all part of the fun.

The box turned out to contain a mix of Peanuts, Gordo and a single Pogo newspaper clipping. If there are any Gordo fans out there, please reach out and take them off my hands! The Peanuts strips are from 1957 through 1961. The condition of the old newspaper is pretty good considering their age. The smell of old basement permeates from every fiber. However, the paper is holding up well. It’s not too brittle, but it does show some discoloration along the fold lines on many of the comic strips.

What’s next? I’ll be cataloging all these vintage comic strips and taking a closer look at this rarity. Old newspaper has a lot of character. The newspaper printing techniques create a unique image through ink, paper and age. I love to share these unique elements through Instagram and Facebook, so be sure to give CollectPeanuts a follow!
