You should buy this Snoopy Bed Spread before I break down and buy it for myself! Find out where I found it on our Patreon page.
What I Love – This limited color palette from the 1960’s I find really striking. The more color, the more expensive something is to produce. Later bedding would evolve into a calliope of colors, which really sets this era of bedding apart. I also love the heaviness of the fabric. It’s got a great feel.
Another fun aspect of this Snoopy Bed Spread are all the various images of Snoopy. Not only do you have common images like the Flying Ace, dancing and baseball, but the vulture, burned out doghouse and laying in a bird bath. The burned doghouse is especially odd since it’s quite a traumatic story line in the Peanuts comic strip from 1966. The oddities help date this piece. Along with the doghouse, there’s also a pre-Woodstock bird. By 1970, these two items would be out-of-date, so that might help pinpoint the production date. Or, here’s a similar one in a catalog in 1972.
