What I Love – These old Artcraft and Saalfield coloring books are just darling. In late 1960’s, the cover artwork tends towards stock artwork taken directly from the comic strip. However, a lot of these early Peanuts coloring books from the late 1950’s seem to have playful scenes never seen in the comic strip. They also appear a little “off-model” like they weren’t drawn by Schulz. My guess is Schulz didn’t have quite as much control over Peanuts artwork at this time. As such, compromises may have been made. Either way, I still love these early covers on the Snoopy Artcraft Coloring Books!
