Move over Barbie, there’s a new fashion doll in town for 1983! Snoopy and Belle had a variety of outfits to wear at their Show n’ Go House. Snoopy was a rock star, a tennis player, a cowboy and other outfits. Belle has the right outfit for a day at the beach, a trip to the roller rink, a night at the theater, and more fashions. Plus, they each came with a Woodstock figure. Knickerbocker made a variety of Snoopy and Belle toys including these dress-up fashion dolls.
The Snoopy and Belle fashion dolls are a fun and unique part of Peanuts collecting history. These dolls were made by Knickerbocker in 1983 and brought Snoopy and Belle into the world of fashion dolls, complete with removable outfits and accessories. The original Snoopy doll came in a box labeled “Snoopy and Belle’s fashions,” and collectors can find different variations, including versions of Snoopy’s shirt with reversed color patterns.
Snoopy and Belle are designed like traditional fashion dolls, with clothing that can be changed using Velcro closures. While the dolls look nearly identical, one easy way to tell them apart is that Belle has eyelashes while Snoopy does not. Belle also came with her classic pink dress, bow, and shorts, along with a tiny Woodstock accessory that is easy to overlook if you do not know what it belongs to. The outfits were a major part of the collection, with options including tennis, old-fashioned, nightgown, beach, cape, jewels, Miss Hollywood, roller disco, Western, ballet, cheerleader, and Southern Belle fashions.
The Snoopy outfits included fun themes like cowboy, tuxedo, beachwear, rock star, and bathrobe looks. To store and display all these fashions, Knickerbocker also released the Show and Go house, a carrying case and playset with interchangeable scenes. The house came with cards, dividers, a drawer, and different room setups, including showtime, country, kitchen, and bedroom scenes. Collectors can also look for variations of the Show and Go house, including different shades of blue. With so many outfits, accessories, and small details to discover, the Snoopy and Belle fashion doll line remains a charming piece of Peanuts toy history.
