Deep Dive into Mystery Charlie Brown and Linus Statue
Today, I’m taking a closer look at a mysterious Peanuts collectible featuring Charlie Brown and Linus. When I first spotted this figurine in an online auction, I wasn’t sure exactly what I was looking at. After doing some research, I was able to uncover some new details about this unusual piece, although there are still a few Peanuts mysteries left to solve.
This statue has a solid wooden base and may look like metal at first glance, but it is actually made from a plastic resin material. When it arrived, Linus’s head had broken off, but I was able to repair him without much trouble. On the bottom of the piece, it is marked Tivoli Too, St. Paul, Minnesota, Peanuts, and United Feature Syndicate, Inc. This helps place the statue before 2020, and it also connects it to Tivoli Too, the company known for creating the large Peanuts Around Town statues found in places like the Minneapolis and St. Paul area and Santa Rosa, California. Since Tivoli Too is not known for making many smaller Peanuts statues, this little piece is especially interesting.
While researching this Charlie Brown and Linus statue, I wondered if it might have been a concept piece for the Linus and Sally statue in St. Paul. Then, during a trip to Santa Rosa, California, I spotted the full-size bronze version of this exact statue at the airport. Seeing the larger statue in person was such a fun surprise, and I even brought home a tiny duck from the display to add to my own statue as a reminder of the discovery. According to the Sonoma County Airport website, the Charlie Brown and Linus bronze statues were installed in September of 2007 and were funded in part through the sale of 16 Joe Cool statues from the Peanuts on Parade project. This unique Peanuts collectible is a great example of how much there is still to discover in the world of Peanuts memorabilia.
