1968 Have Lunch with Snoopy Lunch Box

Anybody can have a 1968 Have Lunch with Snoopy Lunch Box in metal for the right price. However, finding this rare plastic lunchbox with similar graphics and from the same year? Very tricky! I found this gem on an online auction and snapped it up to share with my fellow Peanuts fans. I don’t know much about it, but would love to know if anyone knows more about it. Reach out to me, Caren, at info@collectpeanuts.com if you have more info. I suspect it might be a Canadian release as I usually come across these in Canadian auctions. What I really need is evidence, so I’ll be sleuthing until the truth is found.

Deep Dive into 1968 Have Lunch with Snoopy Lunch Box

Finding vintage Peanuts collectibles can sometimes lead to more questions than answers, and this Snoopy lunch box was one of those fun mysteries. I found this vintage Thermos Snoopy lunch box at an online auction after seeing similar lunch boxes listed in Canada, but I had not come across this exact design very often in the United States. The lunch box was in surprisingly nice condition, especially considering the front graphic is a decal that could easily have been damaged or worn away over the years. The bright colors and classic Snoopy artwork made it a great addition to my collection.

To figure out when this Snoopy lunch box was made, I compared it with other vintage Peanuts lunch boxes from the same general era. The style of the handles, clasps, Thermos graphics, and construction helped narrow down the date. This lunch box includes a 1968 date, which matches the early style of the artwork and other known Peanuts lunch boxes from that time period, including the classic Snoopy domed lunch box design. While character dates on collectibles do not always tell the full story, the details on this lunch box support it being a late 1960s Thermos release.

One of the fun details about this vintage Snoopy lunch box is the artwork itself. Snoopy is shown holding a lunch box, and that lunch box features an image of the same lunch box, creating a fun design within the design. Vintage Peanuts lunch boxes are popular with collectors because they combine practical everyday items with classic Charles Schulz artwork. I am still looking for more information about where this particular lunch box was originally sold, so if you remember carrying one to school or have more details about this Thermos Snoopy lunch box, it would be great to learn more about its history.
