Take a trip back to the 1970s when the Peanuts gang was selling bread and snack cakes in your local grocery store! These masonite hardboard signs featuring Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Frieda, Snoopy and Woodstock were made for the Interstate Brands Corporation, makers of Dolly Madison Snack Cakes and Butternut Bread. I found most of these on eBay, complete with their original shipping box to an employee at IBC. Linus was recently acquired for my collection separately. Were they ever available for grocery stores, or were these a one-off sample? The smaller carboard versions are plentiful, but these larger 10″ x 17″ hardboard versions may be unique.
If they are the only ones in existence, is this the same Linus I missed out on? We may never know!
