Carousel horses were a big thing for a while. Right around 1990, they were just everywhere. Willitts Designs had a full line of carousel horse figurines and musicals that were probably selling like hot cakes. Merging their licensed Peanuts characters with the popular carousel horses was an obvious move. Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy and Snoopy Carousel Horse musicals, figurines and ornaments were created, as well as a few musicals featuring all four characters riding the horses.
The Peanuts and Snoopy Carousel Horse musicals were prone to problems unfortunately. This listing is a great illustrator of the inevitable problem every Snoopy Carousel will face in time. The rubber ring that holds the horse to the pole will eventually degrade, crack and possibly break the horse if it’s on display. Being careful with these or finding a good way to replace the ring is prudent.
How much is a Snoopy Carousel Horse Musical worth?
While it’s nice this Snoopy Carousel Horse Musical is still intact, I wouldn’t put too much of a premium on that cracking rubber ring. I’d be much more comfortable spending around $35-50 for this musical. While it’s also nice to have the original box, it’s in bad shape and doesn’t add a lot to the value.
