Deep Dive into Mystery Snoopy Plush
While shopping at a consignment store, I spotted a plush Snoopy that I immediately thought was a fake. The fur looked different, the eyes were too round, and the nose shape didn’t look quite right. There are plenty of white dogs with black ears that were inspired by Snoopy, so I assumed this was just another one. But after picking him up and checking the tag, I discovered that he was actually a licensed Peanuts plush, which turned this unusual find into a mystery.
After comparing this Snoopy to another similar plush from my collection, I noticed several differences. The other Snoopy has more traditional plush fur, the familiar Snoopy face, and details like his apostrophe-shaped eyes and eyebrows. This newly discovered Snoopy has a different fabric texture, a different nose, and what appear to be spots where eyebrows may have originally been attached. Both plush toys have similar Peanuts tags, but the materials and construction are different enough to make me wonder if this was a separate release or if this plush has changed over time.
This Snoopy appears to be a 15-inch plush, which matches information about a version from the early 1970s, but there are still plenty of questions about this particular toy. Collecting Peanuts items often means finding unusual pieces that require a little detective work. Sometimes the things that look wrong at first turn out to be the most interesting finds, and this little Snoopy is a great reminder to take a closer look before passing something by.
