Deep Dive into Will these Vintage Animated Snoopy Plushes Work?
Animated Peanuts decorations are some of the most fun collectibles to bring out during the holidays, but after 25 to 30 years, they do not always work exactly as they should. In this video, I take a look at several animated Snoopy holiday plush and displays from Santa’s Best, including Snoopy, Snoopy the Flying Ace, and Snoopy with a snowman. I also go through some troubleshooting tips for getting vintage animated plush toys working again. The first thing to check is always the batteries, and luckily, this Snoopy had a clean battery compartment without any old battery damage. I also talk about using a battery tester, checking switches, and gently moving the parts to help loosen up old gears.
Many of these animated Snoopy collectibles use power adapters instead of, or in addition to, batteries, so I show how I tested them with a universal AC to DC power adapter. It is important to match the correct voltage because using too much power can damage the electronics. Some of the Snoopy animations needed a little encouragement after years in storage, while others started working right away. I test different pieces, including Snoopy on his doghouse, Snoopy the Flying Ace, and a larger Flying Ace display that still had the original packaging. I also share tips for safely handling these vintage Peanuts decorations, including grabbing them by the base instead of pulling on delicate arms or heads.
The final piece in the collection is Snoopy and the snowman, a large 12-volt animated display from 1997 that originally sold at Dillard’s for $150. After connecting the correct power supply, Snoopy and the snowman both came to life, which is always exciting with older electronic collectibles. Vintage animated Peanuts decorations can have issues with motors, circuit boards, and aging parts, but when they work, they are a great way to display Snoopy and Woodstock during the holiday season. These classic Santa’s Best animations are a fun part of Peanuts collecting and a reminder of how creative holiday merchandise has been over the years.
