There comes a time in every well-loved Snoopy’s life that he’ll need a little bath. Join me as I give this second-hand Snoopy plush toy a little tender loving care. He has a few light colored spots in many places on his white fur just needing a quick spot treatment. Luckily, they all came out with my tried and true trick to basic stain removal.
Spot Cleaning Process
The key ingredients are cold water and shampoo. Since these stains are of an unknown substance, this is my preferred method. The cold water is so the stain won’t be heat set. The basic shampoo works on anything organic and oily, just like your hair. I like to use a shampoo without any weird dye colors since you don’t want your plush to turn colors.
First, I mix the water and shampoo on a clean towel. Each spot is rubbed gently, rinsed with cold water and squeezed with a towel to remove excess water. I use the damp cloth lightly over Snoopy’s fur to freshen his sent and remove any invisible dirt. Once he’s been towel dried, I gently brush his fur with a comb to fluff up the hairs. Next, I lay him out to dry and recomb if needed. Finally, your Snoopy plush is ready to be hugged again!
Cautions
Always proceed with caution when trying a new technique with new materials. Try out the process on a small, discrete area to resolve any issues early. Always be gentle with older items as the fabric may not be as strong as it once was. If you can, practice your technique on a test plush.
