It took me a moment, but then it hit me! This isn’t a “toy”, it’s what’s left of a Snoopy Electric Pencil Sharpener by Kenner. There’s one important clue the seller missed when evaluating this item. Behind Snoopy is a hole, just the right size for a pencil. Originally, this would have sat on a green base that housed the electric pencil sharpener. The shavings would be contained inside Snoopy’s doghouse.
While I can’t blame the seller for not knowing what this item is, I can blame them for the outrageous price. Perhaps if this was a mint condition Snoopy doghouse, I could see someone asking this price. It could be the missing or replacement piece someone has been hunting for. However, Snoopy’s doghouse looks more like he’s been fighting the Red Baron, rather than writing the next great American novel. The front of his roof is cracked and missing, plus his black doorway is rubbed off. The yellowing glue on Snoopy’s plastic seams is quite common. The seller has left this item open to offers, so armed with more information, you may be able to get the seller to reduce her price.
How much is a Snoopy Electric Pencil Sharpener worth?
If I were to find this in my travels, I wouldn’t buy it. I would advise against paying much more than a couple dollars for this lonely Snoopy piece. Finding a Snoopy Electric Pencil Sharpener complete and with the original box is easy enough under $30.
