Peanuts Wall Decals – Review

January 7th, 2012

The finished wall! It really adds something to the room. It used to feel really blank on that side.

I live in one of those old houses with angled ceilings on the second floor. This always creates problems with furniture and decorating. My Snoopy room is full of stuff and the white angled ceiling wall always looks so bare in comparison. Luckily, LTL Prints is selling Peanuts wall decals, but is soon discontinuing the Peanuts designs.

After pouring over the many designs on their website, I bought the cute set of Peanuts characters running to add some fun to my white wall. It was a little tricky deciding which set to get since it wasn’t really clear how large the characters would be in the end. Bigger is always better, so I went with the 5′ size. The characters turned out to be about 18″ tall.

My package arrived in 5 days from ordering with the basic shipping. The wall decals were shipped in a hard, cardboard tube, so no rise of a damaged package. The instructions are included on the back of the invoice.

First, I rolled out the decals to take a look. The characters look great, not pixelated or anything from being enlarged. Instead of a vinyl like some wall decals, these are a fabric material that seems pretty durable. There were only two problems. Woodstock was about the same height as Snoopy. That is one huge bird! Also, the lines were not cut out perfectly, leaving white areas on the outside edges in some places. Some of these are understandable, such as between thin lines of hair, but some places it seemed improperly cut. After contacting LTL Prints these issues, they sent a new Woodstock that arrived a few days later. He is the perfect size and doesn’t have white on the outside edges.

Installation was easy. First, I washed the walls with a damp cloth using just water. I recommend a lint free towel. Next, I measured the area to get an idea of where I want to put the characters. I drew some faint pencil lines just to give me a guide for placement. At first, I was going to line up the characters on the wall with their paper backing material still attached and then slowly remove it. However, since the wall decals are re-usable, it was easier to just re-position as needed. They are an easy size to manage by one person, but larger decals might need two people. I only had one instance of it sticking to itself, and it came apart alright.

After about an hour, I was done putting up my wall decals. Once I got the hang of it, it was pretty easy. They stick really well, even on my angled wall. There is one spot behind Marcie that’s not very flat and has lots of bumps. It’s sticking just fine, but I didn’t press too hard to make sure I didn’t damage her. All in all, I’m quite impressed with the product and how easily it went up. Being easy to remove and re-position is one of the big advantages of this product. Someday when I fix the cracks and paint the wall, I can just put the wall decals back up again.

My final word: even though they’re a little pricey, the Peanuts Gang wall decals are a quick and simple way to bring new life to a room. Compared to painting a mural, this is totally worth it!

NOTE: The Peanuts designs are being discontinued, so act fast! View them on their website here: http://www.ltlprints.com/catalog?filter=search&search_key=peanuts. If you purchase wall prints from LTL Prints, I receive a small commission when you click through from a link on my site. The review was completely unsolicited and I purchased the decals myself. Thanks for helping our site! Buy LTL Prints…
